The running leg will start from Linguaglossa – Loc. Piano Provenzana and finish at the same point.

42 KM – 1600 M. The cutoff time to reach 31km is 18 hours from the start (by 11:00 PM). The deadline to complete the WFT-EXTREME ETNA is 1:00 AM on October 25, 2026.

It is a technical route entirely on dirt and lava terrain. You will experience an unforgettable journey with the smoking summit of Etna watching over every step and every effort. Trail running shoes are mandatory, low gaiters for sand are recommended and trekking poles are suggested. It is mandatory to carry the materials listed in the regulations and a sufficient water supply, which will be checked by the Race Judges at Piano Provenzana before starting the run leg. Aid stations will be set up at 15km, 31km and at the finish. After 31km, you will face an ascent of about 900 metres and from here you must be accompanied by your supporter for the remaining and challenging 11 km of the race. Together you will tackle the most demanding part of the run segment, the ascent up to 2500 meters of altitude, and a descent that will bring you back in a few kilometres to 1800 meters at Piano Provenzana, where your unforgettable finish line will be located. You will be crowned ‘Lords of Fire’ with the lighting of the Torch of the Gods from the Forge of the God Vulcan, representing this unique achievement in the world.
